Himanshu Verma OLX Fraud

Cyber Crime Bhopal nabbed a miscreant, who was involved in purchasing goods through OLX website by creating a fake profile and cheated the victims by providing a cheque of the bank account with no balance.

The Offender was nabbed after one of the victims Himanshu Verma of Subhash Colony, Bhopal was duped by the accused who was identified as Abhishek Shrivastava by providing cheque of the bank account with zero balance and when the victim presented the cheque got bounced.

The complaint was lodged with the Cyber cell by the Himanshu Verma for fraud. In his complaint, he stated that he posted add for selling LED, TV, DVD player, and home theater system on OLX and after some time he received a message from a user Aradhana Shukla that she is interested in buying the goods but as they are government employee, they would make payment through cheque and her husband Abhishek would collect the goods and make payment through cheque and provided mobile number of her husband. Later Abhishek came and took the goods after providing the cheque and it got bounced when presented and when the victim contacted the accused he resorted to excuses and later switched off his mobile phone.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under section 419, 420 of the IPC and 66 D of the IT act and during the investigation details of bank account cheque book, OLX account, and mobile numbers used in the fraud were searched.

Police said that the accused was nabbed from the New Market area and when he was quizzed he confessed fraud with Himanshu. Later in the investigation, he confessed that he used to cheat victims by creating a fake profile over OLX in the name of Aradhana Shukla.
